The Boonslick Heartland YMCA offers monthly group swim lessons of 8, 30-minute sessions for people of all ages! **Some classes may meet 4 times per month for one hour. Please confirm when registering as to how often your lessons will meet.
For half an hour on Monday & Wednesday evenings, our swim instructor will work with participants in the class to improve things such as swim strength, endurance, and general confidence in the water.
Registration is monthly, with swimmers divided into classes based on proficiency as listed below.
Swim Lessons are not offered in the months of September & December.

Below are a set of guidelines to help determine what proficiency level your child is at.
Parent/Child
For children 6 month to age 3; parent and child swim lessons focused on getting your child comfortable and have fun in the water. * A parent must remain in the water with the child during the entire lesson. |
Beginner
Prerequisite: Must be potty trained and at least 3 years of age. Skills to be taught:

Advanced Beginner
Prerequisite: Youth must be at least 5 years of age, comfortable in the water, can doggie paddle and or swim underwater. They should be able to jump into the water, submerge head and climb out of the pool unassisted. Skills to be taught:

Adv Beginner 2
Focus on passing the deep water test and becoming proficient swimming in the deep end. Will learn the basics of floating, stroke development, and water safety. Participants must be able to swim one lap of the pool, front crawl-unassisted. *Not available May 2023 |
Private & Family Lessons |

In addition to our Youth Group Lessons, the Boonslick Heartland YMCA also offers Private Swim Lessons to individuals of all ages. If you need more one-on-one instruction, never learned to swim as a kid, or simply don’t have the flexibility in your schedule to attend our Youth Group Lessons, then Private Lessons are the way to go.
Pre-Scheduled Lessons
Our private lessons are now primarily available in pre-scheduled sets of 8 lessons, with each new set beginning the first full week of each month for 8, 30-minute sessions on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
Private Lesson: One to one student-teacher ratio; no age limit. Catered to the needs of the swimmer.
Family Lessons: For groups of 2-3 students. *All participants must be from the same household. This is a new requirement as of Oct 2022.

If the above scheduling does not work, you may inquire with our Aquatics Director, Vanessa Dorman at vanessad@bhymca.org about the availability of any non-standard scheduling for private lessons.
Program Refund & Credit Policy
You must cancel in person or in writing at the Welcome Desk. If you cancel after the deadline, we are not able to issue a credit or refund.
Credits will not be given for individual class days missed. The YMCA reserves the right to change, cancel, or combine classes and programs as necessary.
If a session is cancelled, a full credit or refund will be issued.
