CHILD WATCH
We are excited to announce the return of Child Watch to the Boonslick Heartland YMCA! After Covid-19 brought changes to how we operate, we held off on Child Watch for mutiple reasons. We do understand the value of Child Watch to families who want to live a healthy lifestyle and find balance between family and much needed self-care. For this reason, we will offer Child Watch during our busier months with the hours of 5:10-7:20pm. *CHILD WATCH is only available during our busier months.
What is Child Watch?
Child Watch offers a safe place for families to leave children within the care of our staff as parents remain inside the YMCA.
What hours will Child Watch be offered?
Child Watch is only available during our busier months. Please watch for us to post when Child Watch will re-open in the fall.
Monday-Thursday; 5:10pm-7:20PM
* Additional hours will be looked at based on need and staffing.
Do I need to reserve a spot?
Yes, space will be limited. We will handle Child Watch by reservation with up to 10 kids per hour. We will adjust this if we find the need. Y Members may reserve a spot for Child Watch by calling the welcome desk up to 5 days prior to your visit. We will allow families to reserve up to 2 hours in Child Watch per evening but please only reserve the hours you will need. If you do not reserve ahead of time, you are more than welcome to stop by the welcome desk and see if there will be space in Child Watch during your visit. If so, the welcome desk staff will follow the steps needed prior to you walking your child into child watch. Non-members may reserve one hour per evening and will be allowed to register 1 day prior to visiting.
**Please be courteous, if you reserve a spot but know you will not be able to make that reservation, please call and cancel so other families may benefit from Child Watch.
Is there a fee for Child Watch?
Child Watch will be free for Y members. The child must be an active member on the account and must be a dependent of the member.
Guests: For guests choosing to use Child Watch, the fee will be $3.00 per child/visit or $6.00 for 2-3 children from the same household. These fees apply for any child that is not a member.
Other information: The person checking a child into Child Watch must stay within our YMCA and share with our staff where they plan to be within the facility. The check-in process will begin at the welcome desk upon each visit. If it is the first time the child has visited our Child Watch (since our relaunch Oct 2022), our staff may request you complete a Q&A on the child.
During your visit, if your child has behavioral issues or shows signs of distress, our staff may ask that you come to Child Watch immediately.
What if my child needs to use the restroom?
If your child needs assistance to use the restroom or if they need a diaper change, our staff will find the parent and request the parent returns to child watch to assist their child. If your child is capable of using the restroom alone, they will use the restroom located within Child Watch.
If you have any additional questions about Child Watch, please reach out to Angie Patrick at [email protected] or contact the YMCA at 660-882-8500.
